Painter of questionable proportions

Caroline Estelle is a figurative painter based in Nashville, originally from New Orleans. With a BFA in Drawing and Painting from Penn State University and an MFA from Arizona State University, her work delves into themes of neo-mannerism, the uncanny, the grotesque, beauty, and post-COVID existential shifts.

Caroline's oil and gouache paintings feature distorted, elongated figures with perfectly smooth, realistic surfaces that challenge conventional anatomy and subtly unsettle viewers. Inspired by everyday moments, her work reflects a tension between familiar reality and surreal distortion. Caroline has exhibited widely and earned several awards, including the Martin Wong Foundation Scholarship.
